Educator-led activities and exploration
A little slower.
A lot to discover.
Each class has a simple rhythm, giving little explorers a place to begin and plenty of room to make the experience their own.
Our nature educators lead hands-on activities inspired by the season, from making and creating to observing and investigating.
Teacher-Led Activity
We head out onto the Little Discovery Trail to notice what’s changing, discover what’s around us, and see where curiosity takes us.
Trail Exploration
Time to play, climb, and explore. Our play yard gives little explorers room to move, test their balance, and let their imaginations take the lead.
Open-Ended Play
We come back together to slow down and reconnect. We might share a story, sing a song, or linger over something we discovered along the way.
Together Time
Good questions. Here are the answers.
From what to wear to what to expect each Friday, here’s everything you need to know before your first Snail’s Pace adventure. Still have questions? We’d love to chat.

-
Yes. Snail’s Pace is a shared experience for little explorers and their grown-ups. You’ll participate alongside your child throughout the class.
-
Each class has a simple rhythm: educator-led activities, trail discovery, open-ended play, and together time. There’s enough structure to give children a sense of rhythm, while leaving plenty of room to follow their curiosity.
-
Each class is 90 minutes and meets every Friday.
-
Snail’s Pace is offered in eight-week programs throughout the April–December season.
-
Not exactly. We have a simple rhythm and educator-led activities, but we leave plenty of room for children to move at their own pace, follow their interests, and explore alongside their grown-ups.
-
That’s completely okay. Children can watch, stay close to their grown-up, or join in when they’re ready. There’s no pressure to participate in every activity.
-
That’s okay, too. Snail’s Pace is designed for this age range, and our trail experiences are paced with little legs in mind. Grown-ups stay with their children throughout the class.
-
Dress for the weather and expect to get messy. Comfortable layers and sturdy shoes or boots are best. On wet days, waterproof outerwear is especially helpful.
-
We head outside in all kinds of weather when conditions are safe. Our indoor lodge gives us a warm, dry place to regroup when needed.
-
Probably! Mud, dirt, leaves, water, and a little mess are part of exploring at Linden Wood. We recommend sending your child in clothes you don’t mind getting dirty.
-
Yes. Families have access to the bathroom right inside our home.
-
A water bottle and weather-appropriate clothing are the essentials. We’ll provide the materials needed for our activities.
-
Absolutely. Snail’s Pace is open to a parent or another trusted caregiver who can participate alongside your child.
